“Having a Life” is Company Policy. At DO|CO we promote excellence as company policy. However, we also encourage having a life outside of design. We’ve discovered (the hard way) that keeping our lives in balance makes us better at what we do. We encourage everyone to remember that there is an important distinction between what you do “for a living,” and what you do “for life.” We are people with families, athletic & outdoor pursuits, the need to travel, hobbies, and other assorted passions. We see the need for weekends. We tout the wonders of being home for dinner. We find that restful sleep makes us better for the next day. We know that keeping in touch with current events is important (but keeping in touch with friends is essential). We have a need good music. We endeavor surround ourselves with art. We get out of the office (go outside) for lunch at any available instance. We try to keep expectations ambitiously realistic. . . And above all, we always put the people we love before the stuff that we do.
